What I've learnt since starting college

1. The buses are hardly ever on time.
I have to get four buses a day (if I don't get given a lift) because I have to get two buses into college and two back out again. While my first bus seems to come a few minutes after it is expected, my second bus can be rather unreliable for example, this bus is supposed to arrive every ten minutes but today it was forty minutes late.

2. You are treated as an equal by your teachers.
You call them by their first names, they allow you to go the the toilet or to fill your water bottle up as you please and they don't make too much of a fuss if you are late, like I was today (because of my bus arriving after it should've)

3. They don't pressure you as much.
A-Levels are supposed to be extremely stressful but while the secondary school teachers panic about your GCSEs on the first day back at school in September in year ten, the teachers at college are much more relaxed and that seems to keep me calm.

4. You may have long breaks but you always have something to do.
Whether it is homework, revision, shopping or just sitting and talking with your friends- you can find something to do with your free time.

5. It is important to put in those extra hours.
I do five hours of each subject each week in college time but it's important to spend extra time during the week looking over your notes, revising, doing homework or completing any extra work you didn't do in lesson.

6. Walking through the town centre in the dark isn't pleasant.
I have to walk through my town centre at 5 o'clock, which is extremely dark, and it does scare me. I feel safest with my phone in my hand but out of view and walking at a fast pace to my next bus stop.

7. You do have free time.
A-Levels don't take up all of your time as long as you do everything you need to then you can spend as much time doing what you want to do.

8. It is freezing in the mornings.
I have to leave at half past seven three days a week and it is completely freezing. It is icy, frosty and sometimes foggy. I've been relying on to-go coffee cups, gloves, coats, jumpers, scarves and anything that can keep me warm.

9. Boots are the most practical thing to wear in this weather.
They keep your feet warm, they are sturdy, the have good grip and you can get some really pretty ones. You can't go wrong.

10. It is a lot of effort... but it is enjoyable.
As long as you are willing to put the time and effort in you can do it, but you can also have fun. I love all my lessons- I understand what I'm being taught, I have good friends in my lessons and the teachers are all so nice!

Love you all xoxo
