My Favourite Lip Colours For This Time Of Year

I thought that this would be the perfect post for the beginning of spring as the colours I like for this time of year are more natural, subtle shades. Nothing that stands out too boldly, unlike the shades I would lean towards in autumn and winter. So these are my five favourite lipsticks at the moment, with shades that I find fit this time of year perfectly.

My first lipstick is the Laritzy Cosmetics liquid lipsticks in the shade 'tidal'.
This is a lipstick that I got as part of a Birchbox for Christmas from my mum. If I use a matte liquid lipstick I usually prefer to use a lip cream because they don't dry down to much, and I've found that matte liquid lipsticks can really dry my lips out. However, I haven't experienced that this is a problem with this lipstick.

This dries down to a dark pink colour which I think fits the season; it stands out but it is more subtle than a red lipstick. It has a smooth finish, it doesn't transfer, it is long lasting and I've found that it don't stick your lips together like other matte liquid lipsticks can seem do when they are drying.

This lipstick is around £20, but I couldn't find a UK link so you may have to search for one.

The second lipstick is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade '19 Cannes'.
I love this lipstick, I think I may have talked about it before, it is perfect for this time of year. It is a neutral pinky shade. It is quite subtle, I've found that it works well with more natural makeup looks (I often used to wear it to school when I was in year 11).

I like it because it doesn't completely dry down, so it feels soft and creamy on your lips while still staying matte. It is smooth, it glides on and it doesn't dry your lips out or cling to any dry patches you may have on your lips.

My third lipstick is the Revolution (Soph x Revolution) in the shade 'Fudge'.
This shade it a warm toned brown which I have found that this is a popular colour for this time of year; and I can understand why. I've actually spent the last two summers trying to find my prefect brown lipstick after my previous favourite was discontinued, and this is it.

It is a bold colour that doesn't need building up and the colour is rich and creamy, which now that i think about it sounds like I'm describing chocolate (although I'm not!) I am usually a big fan of matte colours but I like that this colour has a slight shine to it.

My fourth chosen lipstick is the Benefit double the lip they're real! in 'lusty rose'.
This is another lipstick that I got for Christmas, and I wasn't actually expecting to like it. I wasn't sure how I felt about the two colours together (and not just about how well they matched) or if the pink shade would suit me.

However, I actually really like it. It is subtle and buildable, the colours fit really well together and I find that the colour suits the time of year extremely well. The colour is smooth and the shade feels quite natural with one swipe; if you build it up it is bolder, perfect for a night out.

My final lipstick, and probably my favourite of all of them, it the Collection Velvet Kiss Moisturising lip cream in 'caramel'.
I find that I will reach for this over my NYX one and it is my go-to nude; I think that it is probably the most worn lipstick in my collection. I love the colour and I find that you seem to get enough colour in one swipe (but you can build it up.)

This lip cream seems to give my lips an almost airbrushed effect once I've applied it, and although it will wear down if you are wearing it out to eat, it is easy to reapply. If you are just wearing it out for the day or night- and maybe only using the occasional straw- it is unlikely that you would need a top up. The colour is subtle, and like I said with the NYX lip cream, it is perfect for a more natural makeup look.

So these are my favourite lipsticks at the moment and the shades that I tend to use around this time of year, of course I have plenty more that I like but these are the ones that I am likely to reach for more often.
