Struggling to Sleep?
Struggling to sleep, especially on a school night, means that you struggle to wake up, you don't feel ready and sometimes you may even fall asleep in a lesson (believe me I know for experience). I have insomnia, so I struggle to sleep, but I find that some of these methods help relax me, help me get to sleep or help my friends and/or sister!
1. Candles give the room a relaxed atmosphere and fairy lights give the same kind of glow!
2. Fresh bed sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases make the bed feel soft and fresh and make them smell nice. That's pretty relaxing!
3. I find that music makes me relax so I listen to my favourite bands as I go to sleep! This works for me but doesn't work for my sister or my friends, so its not something for everyone but it helps me!
4. Drinks such as Hot chocolate and teas like berry teas can relax you! I prefer hot chocolate but its whatever you feel is best.
5. Baths relax your muscles and the hot water relaxes you!
6. Lavender! That's all I have to say, the oils, candles and other things that smell like lavender are so relaxing and calming!
7. Get any work and/or homework done before you go to sleep so that you don't have to worry about it when you are in bed or when you have just woken up! (This can prevent stress)
8. Make sure you are prepared for work/school for the next day. So your bag is packed, clothes are picked out ect.. that saves you from thinking about it before you go to sleep, because I find that things like that make me think of what I am going to wear or pack before I go to sleep, rather than in the morning!
9. Don't go to bed on a full stomach! Honestly it can feel uncomfortable and you're not really giving your food a chance to digest so eat at least and hour before you do go to bed but the more hours the better!
10. This is something I find so difficult but it is best not to be on your phone, or computer, or watching anything, well basically anything with a screen. It makes your brain active and apparently it can give you strange dreams (according to one of my friends) but I know how difficult it is, so if you are like me then this will be the one point that you avoid!
