Work Experience
Hints and Tips-
1. Don't be afraid to ask for help or to ask if you don't understand something.
2. Obviously follow any safety precautions like fire drills and first aid.
3. Follow instructions and admit if you get something wrong.
4. Try your hardest to accept any challenge that is put forward.
5. Don't forget to do what is asked of you and to use manners, they are giving you a place there after all.
6. If you don't agree with what is asked of you calmly explain that to the supervisor/manager and ask if they can tell you about the safety precautions and make sure you are okay with doing these things, for your peace of mind.
7. Enjoy it as much as you can because they could offer you a Saturday job (or just a job) or you could work out that this is or isn't what you want to do in the future.
My Experience-
My work experience didn't go as well as I hoped. Although I knew that, that wasn't what I wanted to do any more I was still hoping to enjoy it. I worked at a cake shop but I hardly did anything. I went with one of my friends and neither of us actually learnt anything.
On the first day we got there at quarter past 10 and we sorted out some boxes into size order and cut out some grease proof paper before being sent for lunch. when we got back an hour later we spent the rest of the afternoon on the Internet and updating social media before being sent home at 3.
on the second day we were sent home 15 minutes after arriving. on the third day we made a basic cake mixture and then got sent home at 2 after mopping and sweeping the floors. on the fourth day we mopped the floors before filing a few things and stocking some things up and then piping some fresh cream onto a cake and then being sent home at 2 yet again. on our last day we mopped the floor and cleared some things up before finally being sent home at 11:40.
That may not sound that bad and being sent home early may have pleased some people but I wanted some actual experience so yeah... it wasn't that good.
