Favourite Autumn Lipsticks

As we are approaching the season for dark lips, my favourites (at the moment) include a few lipsticks that I have mentioned in the past and am am in love with.

I feel that Autumn is the season for deep reds and plums, others prefer browns or blacks. However, for this particular blog post I decided to share what I enjoy to wear in these months.

I tend to stick to more affordable products- such as Primark and MUA- however, I do have two slightly more expensive products, though I don't own anything extremely pricey, like mac.

Before I begin telling you about my favourites for this month, I will warn you that I am not a pro at swatching, and though I did try to neaten then up, I do believe that I made things worse!

(From First to Last)

1. MUA LUXE Velvet in 'Elegance' -

Elegance is a matte liquid lipstick- it dries quickly, it stays on for quite a while and once it has dried it doesn't smudge. It is extremely pigmented and I find that it is a plum colour (though one of my friends disagreed with me on that).

It is affordable (it was £3 when I bought it) it smells amazing and it applies easily. It is quite drying, so if you don't particularly like that feeling then I wouldn't recommend this lipstick for you. It is really good for wearing out, though depending on what you are eating it may wear (though most lipsticks do this.)

The one issue I do have is that because I am not the best when applying lipstick, I do get it everywhere am it isn't the easiest to remove- which when it comes to actually wearing it on your lips (and not your chin) is a good thing!

You can get it here!

2. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in '08 Grand Cru' -

This is one of my favourite lipsticks, it is the one that I wore to my year 11 prom and it lasted the whole night with only one tough up (in the middle after I'd eaten). I think it is long lasting, it doesn't dry down completely but it still remains matte and it is highly pigmented.

This one is on the slightly pricier side, when I purchased it it was £8.99, but I have found it to be worth it. It is a deep red and I find that it is good for a night out and day trips!

Again, this can smudge while it is being applied, but once it has dried is doesn't move so it will last for a while. It doesn't feel heavy on your lips. I have found that, again depending on what you are eating, you can take it off slightly, so you may need to check your teeth to avoid embarrassing moments!

You can get it here, though it doesn't look as dark in the photograph as it is in person!

3. Nivea Volume Shine Pure Diamond in '63 Berry Charms' -

This is one of my favourite lipsticks, I am actually on my second tube because I wore it so much last year! It is highly pigmented, extremely moisturising and I find that it it is long lasting. I think that you don't need to top it up often, but you may need to if you are out for a long period of time and eating or drinking.

I purchased this off Amazon for about £2.50, I am not sure where they sell it other than online but if you happen to see it in a shop then please let me know in the comments! This is another lipstick that is great for any trip out, day or night.

I have found in the past that this can smudge, though not often, but it is easy to clean and top up in necessary. It is another deep red colour and it doesn't really need more than one coat to get the full benefit. It has a light texture and it applies smoothly.

You can get it here!

4. Revlon Matte Balm in '270 Fiery Flamboyante' -

This is another lipstick that I have mentioned in at least one previous blog post, and that is because it works so well. It is yet another deep red (I own a lot of reds) and I find that it is quite moisturising. I have noticed that these matte balms have a minty fragrance, that I feel like you can smell slightly the whole time you are wearing them.

This is another slightly more expensive, £7.99. Since I bought this product the name has been changed to 'colourburst matte balm' and I think that the shade 'fiery' is the same colour as mine (though I might be wrong).

It is very pigmented, easy to apply and it has a light texture that isn't drying. I find that this is easy to neaten up if you smudge it and it is a good shade to wear out at any time of the day or to any event!

You can get it here!

5. Primark PS Matte Lipstick (name unknown) -

I have owned this lipstick for a long time, and since I bought it the packaging has changed and I don;t know if they still have this colour, so if you find this lipstick or one that looks like it then please let me know!

This is a plumy, pigmented matte lipstick and it applies extremely easily. It is fairly easy to neaten up (on your face, not so much when you swatch), though I haven't found that it smudges too easily. It was £1.50 when I purchased it, so it is extremely affordable! I wouldn't say that it is majorly moisturising but it doesn't dry your lips out like some lipsticks do.

It is easy to reapply, though you don't need to do so often. You don't need to apply more than one coat as it applies evenly and it is a strong colour. It is another colour that I find is great to wear for anything.

6. essence sheer and shine lipstick in '09 I Feel Pretty' -

This lipstick, as you may be able to see, is quite sheer. It is a wearable colour, suitable for anything, and if you are nervous of deep, dark autumnal shades then you may find that this is perfect for you. It is quite moisturising, but it isn't majorly pigmented (but it is buildable).

This lipstick was bought for me, so I am not aware of how much was spent but you can get it for around £2. I cannot find it online, but as far as I am aware you can still buy them from Wilkos in store.

This lipstick, though it does smudge, is fairly easy to neaten up. It is easy to apply (it practically glides on) it doesn't feel heavy on the lips and it is a good lipstick to wear for anything!

What are your favourite lipsticks or shades to wear for this season?

Love you all xoxo
