My Go To Products For Skin Breakouts

I often get spots and breakouts, like everyone does, and over the years I have tried to find products that will work for me. I am still looking and sometimes it is based on personal preference or skin type, however I thought I would tell you about the products I am currently using.

I've never really had bad acne, I went though a time where stress was giving me really bad breakouts on my forehead. But skincare helped reduce it and I noticed a drastic difference once I got back off holiday- because sun does help. Sun obviously isn't good for your skin in large amounts or unprotected, but it is beneficial. This isn't a product that you can buy, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

The first thing that I do is wash my face. I don't have one that I have been using regularly because I have been testing out samples. At the moment I am using the Balance Me Pure Skin Face Wash and I really like it. It is a perfect face wash to include in this blog post because it is gentle and calming, containing things like Aloe Vera and Moringa Oil (which is an anti-inflammatory).

The first product that I want to talk about is the Balance Me Congested Skin Serum. This is a product that I received in a beauty box and I tend to use it at first sign of any breakouts. I apply it all over my face before using my moisturiser, but you can apply it straight onto spots.

According to the website it is a 'soothing gel designed to diminish blemishes and calm inflammation.' It contains 'Spruce Knot' to balance out oil production and to purify the skin, along with 'Kanuka Oil' as an anti-bacterial and 'Eucalyptus' to calm any inflammation or redness on your skin.

The next thing I want to talk about is not a particular product, but a process. I always moisturise. I do this whether I have breakouts or not, because I find that this is an important part of any skin care routine.

A few months ago I was looking for a spot treatment after my previous favourite product was discontinued, and after doing a bit of research I decided to try the Clean and clear Advantage Spot Treatment Gel, it is extremely affordable and I've found that it really works.

According to the description on Amazon it dissolves the excess oil on the surface of your skin and quickly reduces the size, redness and swelling of spots. It contains witch hazel and 2% salicylic acid acne medicine which both work to reduce and treat blemishes and acne. You can use this product underneath and on top of your makeup. Studies have shown that testers have found that they have clearer skin in just one day.

If I have really bad breakouts, I try to avoid makeup unless I am going somewhere special. I do this because it gives my skin a chance to breathe and because makeup can block your pores it is good to give your face a break.

How ever if I do decide to wear makeup, I make sure to clean my brushes and sponges in between uses, and will also use a different brush to apply makeup on top of spots, this is so that I am not spreading any bacteria. If I am using a product that comes with an applicator or wand attached, such as concealer, I will use a brush to apply the product.

Another tip that I found while researching spot treatments was applying ice straight on top of spots. This is because it reduces the swelling of spots, helps to calm any redness and numbs them if they are painful.

I have tried a few different face masks to reduce spots and blackheads, however most face masks will tell you not to apply them to blemishes. However, I have found face masks like the GLAMGLOW Supermud Mask is something that reduces spots. It draws out dirt, toxins, oil and congestion from under the skin.

My final tip is to avoid popping them (personally I don't find this difficult but it may be a task for those who enjoy the process). This is because popping them can damage the surrounding skin, cause scaring and spread bacteria.

I hope this blog post has helped you and I hope you enjoyed!

Love you all xoxo
