Life Update: Starting University
Last month I (finally) started university, and for the past month I've been settling in to student accommodation. In some ways it has been a little difficult- I'm away from home, in a new place and honestly, it's fairly daunting. If you've ever moved into student accommodation- or even just moved out on your own- you probably know what I'm talking about.
My student accommodation is quite small as it is a local university and most of their students are from the city or commute in, and most of the flats have at least one bedroom empty. In my flat there are 3 people in a 5 bedroom flat- which suits me quite well, but you probably wouldn't want to read about that.
My course is everything I wanted it to be and more. I honestly love it- the way its taught, the modules and the size of the class. Its quite small, 6 people including me, so there is more time for one on ones and interactive sessions are easier to conduct.
There have been some unusual parts of moving out. Within my first week I was definitely having to be independent- for example the oven was broken and I had to get in contact with the building manager (multiple times) to get it fixed. And then there is the girl from the flat opposite mine that stares out of her bedroom window at us while we're in the kitchen.
In my first week I made myself a budget plan, a cleaning schedule and started making meal plans, all of which I may write blog posts about. I've also planned out a few blog posts, I'm hoping that finally being on my journalism course will encourage me to write more.
I will recommend that if you're starting university, even if you haven't moved out, if you haven't already, look into student bank accounts and their benefits. Personally, I chose Santander because they offered a rail card, and that is something that will benefit me when I want to go home.
Overall, I've enjoyed these couple of weeks, even if some aspects have been a little difficult, if you've got any stories about your university experiences or about moving out please share them in the comments below!
I'm planning to write some more uni based blog posts so if you have any particular suggestions or anything that you'd want to read about please let me know.
Love you all xoxo
